This Is It: Capturing the Essence of Michael
I am so glad, as a fan of Michael since I was very young, to have had the opportunity to experience the masterpiece that truly was It - Michael doing what he loved best - performing. His grace, patience and caring were qualities of Michael that I always admired, and I was comforted by seeing these qualities throughout his performances in the documentary. We are blessed to have this film footage, and kudos to those who felt it was important to capture the essence of Michael as he prepared for the mammoth task of performing This Is It in London. All I kept thinking while watching the film was, if this was the rehearsal, the concerts would have blown any concert ever performed out of the water!! Michael truly was a genius.
This is It - This is Michael. If you have not seen the film, treat yourself to something spectacular. Collaboration, teamwork, and true talent is what you will see. What you will hear is Michael's amazing voice, especially when he sings Human Nature.
Thanks MJ and Kenny, for the memories.
WOW!
This movie was absolutaly amazing!
The man is a genius, I love how he expected the concert to sound like it sounds on his records. Not many artists strive for that (or have the vocal capabilities) these days.
I would recommend this movie to any one who wishes to see a true artist at work!
Fantastic!!!
All I want to say is: WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What an experience that I am never going to forget in my lifetime on this planet... Amazing man, gentle man... When I got out of the theatre, I just wanted to be the best person that I can be! It's truly a transforming experience...
I can't believe that he's not here anymore! Does not matter cause once a king, always a king!
This Is It
I can't say enough about this movie. I have been a Michael Jackson fan since I was a child and have loved him ever since. This movie brought back so many memories for me. He was such a kind soul and the way he interacted with his dancers, producers and backup singers just showed us all what a genuine and sincere man he really was. I even found myself getting choked up a bit in certain parts. I normally don't like documentaries but this was different. Even my 8 year old daughter and 13 year old niece couldn't stop tapping their feet and dancing and singing along to the music. Michael was one of a kind and is truly the King of Pop. I actually plan to go see this movie again before it leaves the theatres and can't wait to buy the DVD when it comes out. It won't be the same as seeing it on the big screen, but it will be something to treasure, that's for sure.
This Is It
Can't say enough about this movie. So glad whoever it was had the presence of mind to film this - what a treasure! After all the sensationalism and hoopla surrounding Michael's death, I had eagerly anticipated watching this to focus on what mattered most about Michael - his phenomenal musical and dancing ability, and this did not disappoint.
The opening portion, where those who had been chosen shared their thoughts about what being part of this project meant to them, was so emotional. I thought I'd be more upset seeing it than I did, but it was just so wonderful to see him, doing what he loved to do best and did so well - entertain.
His quiet and gentle spirit came through, and what a great supporting cast. So much of what is remade today loses the essence of the original, but these dancers and singers had the amazing ability to capture his tone and his moves. The guitarist was amazing, and it was so great to see how much all the cast loved and honored him.
It was a fitting tribute for someone whose talent has spanned over 40 years. Even my 11 year old daughter enjoyed it, and she's a hard one to please, as she feels anything that wasn't around last week is out of date! (ha, ha)
If you've ever enjoyed what Michael did, go and you will not be disappointed. So glad they've decided to hold it over for a longer period so that more people can enjoy it.
A Singer. A Dancer. A Lover. A Fighter. A Genius
Wow, where do I start.
First things first, this movie is beyond fantastic, I'm not a documentary kind of person, and I sure as heck didn't ever think that I would be, but this is without a doubt one of the greatest motion pictures that I have ever seen.
Thinking back on it, I can't think of any sort of fault or failure that they managed to look over, this movie is just pure amazement and obsolutely flawless.
As a long time fan of the King of Pop, I saw many things that I've never seen before. The media makes Michael look like a singer intent on money, but this picture shows the exact opposite. It shows of Michael's creativity and forgiveness, his patience and grace, and his character. Michael is just a man on a mission, to make the world see its faults and to help everyone understand that we are the fix. There is no 'they,' its just us.
By the end of this movie, I was nearly in tears. The emotion and kindness shown by Michael is absolutely amazing, and when the final words roll across the screen, I can't hope but want more. If one word could discribe this masterpeice, it would be Beautiful.
Michael Jackson, more than just a singer, a role model for all.
This Is It. There is nothing left.
Rest in peice Michael, we all miss you.
Peace Out!
This Is It
An amazing journey behind the scenes of one who is clearly so creative and talented. The concert he was preparing for his fans would have been a once in a lifetime experience. All the quirkiness and tabloid fodder are stripped away after you sit in your seat and begin to watch the process unfold. You get to see the respect everyone and I mean everyone has for MJ. The dancers, the musical director, the backup singers, the musicians show their respect for this creative genius throughout the rehearsal process. A fitting tribute to an entertainer we may never see the likes of again.
